Gov’t Delays Requiring Rearview Cameras In Cars

The long awaited government regulations on rearview cameras have been delayed again. Manufacturing Business Technology relates an AP news story reporting that new regulations may be delayed until the year 2015. The same report discusses the addtional costs backup cameras will add to new vehicles and adds, “in the meantime, absent regulations, the safety administration [NHTSA] said it planned to update its list of recommended safety features to encourage consumers to purchase cars with the cameras.”

We were surprised at the estimates of the cost of adding cameras to vehicles that do not currently have a built-in display. Our Quickvu™ Wireless Backup Camera allows you to add a rearview camera to your car today, without waiting for the government, and for little more than the cost to be added to new cars — and you can do it without buying a new car!
